Castle Craig is an observation tower located in Meriden, CT that was given to the town by world traveler Walter Hubbard in 1900. The tower is 32ft high and is 1,002 ft from ground level and overlooks the 1,800 acre Hubbard Park and scenic views of both CT and MA. I have been to the top of the tower and can confirm that the views are spectacular!
Searching the internet for photos of Castle Craig showed many photos that were very similar but I was looking for something that was different from all the rest. Why not go for a night shot? For many years I’ve wanted to capture a night time photo of the tower but getting weather, clouds, stars and temperatures to align is easier said than done! Finally, after checking various weather forecasts and astronomy apps, it seemed that a clear starry night was due to appear in my area. These shots were taken around 3am and it was really cold but considering my resulting photos, I think it was worth grinning and bearing those uncomfortable temperatures. Upon returning to my car, I rewarded myself with a cup of Hot Chocolate. Below are my photos from that night.
